    Two Methods of Targeted Advertising

family.one Network properties may deliver targeted advertising in two ways:

    Property-Managed Targeting

In these scenarios, the Third Party advertiser does not directly access your user-level targeting data; the property manages the targeting internally (e.g., using anonymized or aggregated audience parameters).

    Third-Party Direct Targeting
In cases where you have explicitly consented to receive communications or offers from a specific Third Party, that Third Party may select users to target through the relevant family.one Network property—or even beyond it, such as on external platforms. For these targeted campaigns, the Third Party has granular control over which users see specific content based on the permissions you have granted.

For more information on how to opt out or adjust your targeting preferences, please see the “How to opt-out of interest-based advertising” section below and the “Opting Out” instructions in our Terms of Service (Advertising and Promotions).

  • User database management

This type of service allows the Owner to build user profiles by starting from an email address, a personal name, or other information that the User provides to family.one network, as well as to track User activities through analytics features. This Personal Data may also be matched with publicly available information about the User (such as social networks' profiles) and used to build private profiles that the Owner can display and use for improving family.one network. Some of these services may also enable the sending of timed messages to the User, such as emails based on specific actions performed on family.one network.

    Property-Specific vs. Network-Wide Account Closure

When you close your account on any individual family.one Network property, we will delete or anonymize any data specifically associated with that property. However, unless you close your entire family.one Network account (i.e., all properties where you maintain an account), your basic profile remains active across other Member Properties.

If you later rejoin a property you previously closed, a new record will be created for that property; any past activity or data associated with your previous membership on that property will no longer be available. To fully delete your account and all associated data across all Member Properties, you must close your account for every property. For instructions, see “Deletion of User Data” above.

Account Deletion & Consent Log Retention (Custom Clause)

Users may delete their account at any time from within the app. When an account is deleted, all personal data is either deleted or anonymized. Consent logs are retained in immutable records for 7 years as a legal precaution in case of disputes.

  • Securing your data

We prioritize your security by implementing passwordless login as the default authentication method. This involves the use of auto-expiring one-time emailed login tokens, which require access to your email account or third-party login via OAuth2 partners such as Google, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter). This method significantly reduces the risk associated with traditional passwords.

While we recommend against the use of traditional passwords due to the inherent security risks, we understand that some users may prefer or require them. In such cases, passwords are never stored as clear text - they are always hashed (and salted) securely using industry-standard encryption methods. We utilize secure authentication protocols that ensure passwords are not stored directly, but instead, a secure verifier is stored which allows verification without receiving the password itself. These verifiers are encrypted using advanced encryption standards.

Registration and all data transmissions are performed through a secure connection using Transport Layer Security (TLS). We require TLS 1.2 and recommend TLS 1.3, ensuring secure communication between clients and our services.

All personally identifiable data (PID) is stored on servers that comply with AICPA SOC 2 Type II and PCI DSS standards. Our data centers are physically secured 24/7 with biometric scanners and other technical security measures. These servers also hold ISO 27001 and ISO 27018 certifications, ensuring the highest levels of data security.

Access to the database is restricted to a required access-only basis and accessed only through a secure connection. Login to the database is secured against brute force attacks and tested regularly.
