Your Website Accessibility Checklist

Does the European Accessibility Act Apply to You?

Answer these questions to determine if your business needs to comply:

Do you sell products or services to consumers in the EU?
Does your business employ at least 10 people OR have an annual turnover or balance sheet exceeding 2 million euros?
Do you provide any of these services: e-commerce, banking, media services, e-books, or passenger transport services?

How Accessible Is Your Website Now?

Evaluate your current website against these essential accessibility principles:

Can all users perceive your content?

Does your text have sufficient contrast (4.5:1 ratio for normal text)?
Have you added descriptive alt text to all your images?
Do your videos include captions and audio descriptions?
Is your information available through multiple sensory channels?

Can everyone navigate and operate your site?

Can users navigate your entire site using only a keyboard?
Is there a visible focus indicator when using keyboard navigation?
Have you eliminated content that flashes more than 3 times per second?
Do your forms have clear labels and helpful error messages?

Will users understand your content?

Have you specified the page language in your HTML?
Is your navigation consistent throughout your website?
Have you provided clear instructions for all interactive elements?
Do your error messages explain how to fix problems?

Is your site compatible with assistive technologies?

Does your HTML/CSS code validate without major errors?
Have you used ARIA roles and landmarks correctly?
Have you tested your site with screen readers and other assistive technologies?

Do You Have the Required Documentation?

Check if you’ve prepared the necessary accessibility documentation. Have you published an accessibility statement that includes:

A description of the accessibility measures you’ve implemented
